Page 2 of 2 There are many companies and individuals around the world who supply bow hair and claim that ‘theirs is the best that money can buy’. They often make unfounded statements about its origins and properties. If you were to ask them to take out all the damaged, kinky, chalky and curly hairs and tie the bundle back up, this might prove difficult, simply because they are merchants and not horsehair dressers. These merchants are in the market solely to buy as cheap as they can, and then sell for as much as possible. This can sometimes mean profits of up to 700% from buying hair and selling it on. Hi, I'm Michael T. Sowden, a Yorkshireman born on 4th July 1944 who started work as a horse hair dresser at 15 years old. I am now 63 and have therefore spent 48 years at my trade. I have 3 sons, Michael Jnr, Mark and Phillip, who all began working and training with me when they left school in order to carry on this very rare trade when I retire.  Michael T. Sowden
