The English surname Sowden is of local origin. Local surnames were derived from the place where a person once lived, or a prominent local geographical feature, perhaps a hill identified one person who lived near a bridge, river, Lake Etc.

This particular hair has had some first class feedback regarding the use for Bass Bows. A thick, coarser hair with ample bite and strength. The actual colour is slightly lighter than the photo suggests. More Auburn with warm highlights.
This type of hair has mostly been used for the Fiddle players, reasonable course, with a mixture of mid to light brown and cream hair.
Canadian horse tail hair has a tendency to be slightly thicker in diameter than other origins of white hair and is therefore coarser and stronger. It is ideal for double bass or cello, but has received a varied reception for use in violin…some applaud it, while others think it’s too coarse.
This type of hair is picked, and damaged and short hairs are removed. It is more expensive due to its rarity.
If you have clients who find your usual brand breaking regularly, this is the hair to use!
